Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA

On July 10, 1890, President Benjamin Harrison signed the bill that made Wyoming a state. The territorial capital, Cheyenne, became the state capital, but not without a challenge. Both Casper and Lander touted their centrality and future promise, but their case didn't change enough minds in the state legislature. [2013]
